The Info Day of the ECO-FISH Project Implementation

The Local Event/ Info Day was successfully held in Orikum on Friday 22 February  2019. In the context of the Project ECO-FISH FISH “Ecological footprint in crossborder marine fish farming in Sagiada (Greece) and southern Albania”, the event was implemented under the INTERREG IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme “Greece –Albania 2014-2020”.
The Local Event/ Info Day was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vlora Region in collaboration withProject Partner SEEP Albania, RAF Foundation, institutions of the region, environmental associations and by local stakeholders and businesses in the aquaculture sector.
The event was coordinated by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vlora Region, Mr. Arben Breshani. The Chamber’s manager presented the correlation between the ECO-FISH Project and the aims of the Chamber. He also noted the project’s relevance to the Chamber’s plan for adding value to local agricultural products.

Afterwards, several project partners presented their project’s actions and expected results. The event continued with the presentations of other partners who will carry out studies in the field of aquaculture. Mr. Simo Ribaj, chairman of the SEEP Albania Association, discussed his position as a partner in this project and clarified the objectives and the importance of the results. He also discussed the possibility of integrating them into the plan for increasing the value of sea products.
The President of the Association of Fish Farmers of Vlora Region, Mr. Astrit Aliaj continued with a presentation of the linkage between the project’s results and the aquaculture sector, as well as the anticipated effects on the sector.
The meeting continued with interactive discussions between participants and project partners. The event was concluded with participants’ questions, which were answered by project partners. The participants expressed their appreciation for the project and acknowledged its importance for the development and maintenance of the aquaculture
sector.
